ENC100 Fundamentals of Written Communication

This course will introduce the college student to the purpose, elements, and qualities of good writing. Students will be coached through the drafting, revision, and the final stages of writing, and they will learn to find, assess, and properly document sources of information.

ENC137 English Composition II

In this course, students will develop skills toward expository writing based upon the close reading and study of selected texts. The course emphasizes oral and written analytical interpretations which include recognition of the techniques, forms, and rhetorical devices used by writers of literature. The course also serves as an introduction to literature.

ENL300 Great Authors

This course is designed as a survey of the lives and works of great authors in literature. Students will be led in and will lead discussion of the authors' seminal works within their cultural and historical contexts. Students will learn to engage in critical evaluation of authors' worldviews, but the emphasis will be on learning to converse with a text on its own terms, in light of its author's questions and ideas.

FIN131 Personal Finance

Students will develop an understanding of personal finance concepts from a biblical worldview. Topics will include saving, personal budgeting, debt, purchasing decisions, insurance, investments, retirement and college planning, career choices, real estate and mortgages and generosity. Students will apply these concepts to their current and future personal financial situations as a foundation for effective lifelong stewardship.

FIN406 Financial Management of Nonprofit Organizations

Financial resources are the lifeblood of nonprofit organizations. This course is a survey of principles, skills and disciplines necessary to build and nurture a healthy and sustainable financial ecosystem that mobilizes a nonprofit for its declared purpose.
